My Little Pony Rewatch Project

Deconstruction is Magic

Episode [3.03] – “Too Many Pinkie Pies”

This week, on My Little Pony

“So lemme guess. You’re the real Pinkie Pie.”

“Heck if I know. Could be any one of us, if you ask me. And if I said I was the real Pinkie, you wouldn’t even believe me anyway. So just leave me alone. I’ve got some important poking the ground with my hoof to do.”

“Oh Spike, how’re we gonna do this? I can’t risk sending the real Pinkie back into the pond!”

“I miss the real Pinkie.”

“I bet she misses you, too.”

Wehe! Wehe! / Beide Teile / steh'n in Eile / schon als Knechte!

How many Pinkies could a Pinkie Pie Pie if a Pinkie Pie could Pie Pinkies?

Episode [3.02] – “The Crystal Empire – Part 2”

This week, on My Little Pony

“Twilight, as I understand it, Spike brought Princess Cadance the Crystal Heart because you weren’t sure how quickly you could find a way to escape the tower. You weren’t willing to risk the future of the citizens of the Crystal Empire in an effort to guarantee your own. Far better that I have a student who understands the meaning of self-sacrifice than one who only looks out for her own best interests.”

Cadance’s magic is fading fast and Sombra is forcing his way into the Crystal Empire. Twilight desperately looks for the Crystal Heart while the others try to keep the Crystal Ponies distracted. Can Twilight find the Crystal Heart in time?

Episode [3.01] – “The Crystal Empire – Part 1”

This week, on My Little Pony

“I am simply to tell you that it has returned.”

A new eldritch horror? Eeyup, it must be a season opener!

The Crystal Empire, an ancient city forgotten in the deep recesses of time, has mysteriously reappeared on the northern outskirts of Equestria. But along with it has come a dark force that threatens to spread its evil throughout the land. Princess Celestia and Princess Luna task Twilight Sparkle with protecting the Crystal Empire from this evil… but is she prepared for the test?

Episode [2.26] – “A Canterlot Wedding – Part 2”

This week, on My Little Pony

“Seriously, though, I get why the Queen of the Changelings wanted to be with you… but how did you get someone as amazing as Cadance to marry you?”

“I told her she wouldn’t just be gaining a husband. She’d be getting a pretty great sister, too.

Pictured: what an episode titled "A Canterlot Wedding" would lead you to believe happens. Not pictured: what actually happens.
Princess Mi Amore Cadenza is an impostor… and not just an impostor, but the queen of a race of bug-like ponies who are Tartarus-bent on draining Equestria of all of its love! She’s no pushover, either: having fed on Shining Armor’s love for Cadance for so long, her magical power has grown greater than that of Princess Celestia’s. And on top of that, the Elements of Harmony have been overrun by the queen’s changeling army. All hope seems lost; is there any force strong enough to vanquish the invading forces?

Episode [2.25] – “A Canterlot Wedding – Part 1”

This week, on My Little Pony

“But… I don’t understand. Who’s getting married?”
“Oh, wait! Uh, I was probably supposed to give you this one first.”
“Princess Celestia cordially invites you to the wedding of Princess Mi Amore Cadenza and… *gasp* My brother?!

Two very important ponies that we've heard about multiple times since the beginning of the series.
Twilight and the others get an invitation to a Royal Canterlot Wedding – Twilight’s brother is getting married! But who is this “Princess Mi Amore Cadenza” who he’s betrothed to? Twilight starts to wonder if her brother’s fiance is really suited for him, and starts to think that maybe there shouldn’t be a wedding at all…

Episode [2.24] – “Mmmystery on the Friendship Express”

This week, on My Little Pony

“That’s it, Big Mac, nice and slow. This is precious cargo you’re carrying!”
“Yes, it took months of planning and testing!”
“I would hate for it to-”

The Cakes design a magnificent massive monster of a cake, and entrust Pinkie Pie with transporting it to an Equestria-wide competition. Somepony sneaks a bite, and she hunts down the perpetrator with gusto.

Episode [2.23] – “Ponyville Confidential”

This week, on My Little Pony

“I’ve got it! The answer to all our problems!”

“The Foal Free Press? How’s the school paper gonna get us our cutie marks?”

This episode brought to you by the letter C for COFFEE.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders try their hooves at writing for the school newspaper in hopes of discovering their latent talents for journalism (spoiler alert: they’re still blank flanks). But when the paper’s new leadership demands frivolous gossip over “boring news and stuff,” the girls find themselves doing more harm to the town and their own reputations than they realize.

Episode [2.22] – “Hurricane Fluttershy”

This week, on My Little Pony

“Fluttershy, wait! So some punks poked a little fun at you and you got stage fright, big deal. You aren’t gonna go quitting because of that, are you?”
*sob* “YES!
“But I need you!”
“I’m sorry, Rainbow Dash, I just don’t have the courage right now…”

Every year, the pegasus population of one of the towns in Equestria funnels water to Cloudsdale from their reservoirs via a wing-powered tornado. This year is Ponyville’s turn, and Rainbow Dash is determined to see the town break the top speed record. But to do that, she’ll need every pegasi in town to contribute everything they can. But with childhood traumas of harassment and mockery over her lack of flying ability, Fluttershy is equally determined not to take part…

Episode [2.21] – “Dragon Quest”

This week, on My Little Pony

“Good bye Spikey-wikey!

“Go get ’em, big guy!”

“We have faith in you!”

“We’re following him, right?”

“Of course.”

I will find my way I can go the distance I'll be there someday If I can be strong
In which Spike joins the once-in-a-generation Dragon Migration to figure out where he comes from and who he should be.
